The Bank of Ceylon Sri Lanka’s top financial service provider was named 'The Bank of the Year 2023 in Sri Lanka' by the famous Banker publication U.K., The announcement was given to all stakeholders and loyal customers during an event at the start of the New Year.

The award, which is coming on the back of an uncertain year for the financial services sector along with the economic sector, recognizes BOC's outstanding performance across various indicators. It also highlights the Bank's ability to stand the test of time in both its role as a state bank and as a 'Banker to the Nation'.

Bank of Ceylon was also included in the list of the top 1,000 banks in the world in the publication for the 12th year in a row it is also the first Sri Lankan bank to be included in the list for 2023.

Importantly the Bank recorded a growth of 5% on its balance sheet, further reflecting the trust of customers which saw assets grow by a staggering amount. The Bank's ongoing dedication to revolutionising banking and improving customer satisfaction is evident in the results.

The General Manager, Mr. Russel Fonseka commenting on this accomplishment said, "I am humbled and extremely grateful for this prestigious acknowledgement and want to express my gratitude to all of our valued customers and partners sincerely for their trust and confidence they have placed in BOC over the years. Our goals for strategic planning are in line in line with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because we believe in contributing to national priorities as well as the larger community. Our conscious decisions reflect the company's business model, which is based on sustainability which results in a positive and positive impact on the environment and society as an ethical business citizen".

The announcement of the list from The Banker is the most recent in a succession of honors and acknowledgments for the Bank of Ceylon's accomplishments in key areas of strategic importance such as customer satisfaction and experience and technology-driven development and innovation of technologically driven solutions and products.

Bank of Ceylon's comprehensive strategy for environmental sustainability and its leadership in sustainable business practices aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which were recognized by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) with at least three awards during the most recent Green Building Awards. The BOC's City Office located in Fort its oldest branch, which was recently renovated was awarded the Silver award for optimizing green efficiency. The bank continued to hold the "Green Business Leadership of the Year Award - Bank Section" for the second time in a row year. They also picked up the prize for 'Green Commitment to Excellence of the year 2023'.

The Bank's annual report for 2022 with the theme of "Resilient Resolve Revive," was also recognized with the Gold Award at the recently completed TAGS Awards 2023 by CA Sri Lanka.
